Putin announced the need to reduce the duration of testing for COVID-19
Russian President Vladimir Putin pointed out the need to reduce the waiting time for a test for coronavirus infection. According to him, the 48 hours allotted by the standards is too long.
“This is the standard for testing no later than 48 hours, after all, this is also long,” TASS quoted Putin as saying. The President noted that “the faster this identification occurs, the less chances that a sick person will infect relatives and colleagues around him.” “We need to work on this, both now and in the future. We must strive to shorten this period, ”Putin stressed.
Putin noted that two months ago, Deputy Prime Minister Tatyana Golikova reported on the availability of other test systems that give a fairly objective result in a much shorter time. In response to this, the Deputy Prime Minister noted that there are indeed systems, but their availability in circulation is limited, and the cost is higher. At the same time, she emphasized that the 48 hours norm worked out together with Rospotrebnadzor for obtaining a test result for coronavirus is the limit. This is explained, among other things, by the difficulties with the delivery of biomaterials to laboratories in remote regions of the Russian Federation.
At the same time, the President noted that, as far as he knows, none of the existing test systems gives one hundred percent result. “That is, failures are possible on each of these test systems, so you double-check them, as I understand it. But still, you need to strive to shorten this period as much as possible. You don’t have to be a great specialist to understand: the faster the detection occurs, the less chances that a sick person will infect relatives, friends, colleagues around him, ”the head of state said, urging to work on reducing the standard.
