RUSSIAN POST intends to sell medicines
The state-owned company Russian Post presented a transformation project for 2020-2027. According to a document aimed at coordination with interested ministries, Russian Post intends to transform its branches into hybrids of an alcohol market, pharmacy, bank and MFC, as well as educational and medical institutions. For this, the state-owned company will need almost 85 billion rubles, Izvestia writes.
As stated in the concept of “Centers of Attraction”, “Russian Post” faced a 1.5 times decrease in global correspondence by 2023. Accordingly, the load of postmen is also reduced. The way out is to change the functionality of the departments and their employees in settlements with a population of up to 20 thousand people. As indicated in the document, out of 42 thousand branches, more than 80% can become the basis for transformation into “Centers of gravity” – this is how the company proposed the new proposed format.
In addition to the specialized ones, Russian Post wants to sell medicines and consumer goods (including alcoholic drinks) in modernized departments, provide state (analogue of the light MFC), social (household assistance), medical (in particular, telemedicine) and educational services .
To implement the plan, Russian Post asks from the budget almost 85 billion rubles. Of these, 66.4 billion for technical modernization and retrofitting of postal service branches, 10.8 billion for overhaul, and another 7.7 billion for expanding the area of offices.
